ADR Arbitration Chambers is an organization established in 2016 specializes in International Commercial Arbitration, Adjudication, Mediation, Corporate and Commercial advisory with representatives in Dubai, Abu Dhabi Mauritius, Geneva & Malaysia.

We are a pioneering chambers solely dedicated to the field of international arbitration. Our members are experienced arbitrators from common law and civil jurisdiction with the required skills to resolve the most complex international disputes.

Through the use of the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, ADR Chambers provides practitioners and their clients’ uniformity and credibility in the field of International Arbitration and Mediation. Our mandate is to provide a single cost effective solution for all types of international dispute resolution, including formal international arbitration, adjudication, mediation, or other hybrid systems of dispute resolution such as Online dispute resolution (ODR). We are committed to bring innovative standards in alternative dispute resolution internationally.

We are in partnership with AlMarsat Projects Development & Canada Quality Expert (CQE), specialised in project Auditing, Construction Management, Claim Management & Construction Contract Dispute Resolution and Real estate Valuation, in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Our esteemed services include claim preparations and expert witness services with arbitration centers around the globe. We focus to promote the use of adjudication, mediation, arbitration and other forms of peaceful conflict resolution, facilitating the establishment of high standards as well encouraging professional development of arbitration and mediation practice across UAE, Africa, Europe and Asia.

The Act

The Mauritius International Arbitration Act 2008

The Mauritius International Arbitration Act 2008 (‘the Act’) is based on the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration adopted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law on 21 June 1985, and as amended by the UNCITRAL in 2006. The Act adds another layer to the legal framework since Mauritius is a party to the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards. The Law offers certain features, solutions and structures to global businesses that are novel and unique in the African region.

The two main features of interest are that: (i) an appeal shall lie as of right to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in England against any final decision of the Supreme Court under the Act; and (ii) substantial appointing functions and administrative responsibilities are given to the Permanent Court of Arbitration having its seat at the Hague. These features will provide international users with the reassurance that the arbitration regime itself is effective and that if there are any court applications relating to arbitrations, they will be heard and disposed of appropriately.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued a new arbitration law, adopting the UNCITRAL Model Law, thereby modernising the current arbitration process and aligning the UAE arbitral framework with international standard.
